History
Walla Walla
Valley Care Net was established in 1995. Each fall public
schools in Walla Walla Valley received applications. Students in College Place, Touchet,
and Walla Walla, who were struggling with behaviors
that were violent to themselves, family members, or peers at school,
were assisted with funds for counseling. We were the "net" that
caught students when the school interventions, community connections, and
other resources had been exhausted.
We sought to
provide students an opportunity to build a positive relationship with a
trusted adult.
In 2002 other
organizations in the Walla Walla Valley were established to provide
support for students through mentoring, counseling, and other community
support. The Walla Walla Valley Care Net Board voted to align with
The Blue Mountain Community Foundation and become part of the "community
net" for helping our youth.
The Walla Walla Valley Care Net board members are all volunteers with a
concern for Walla Walla Valley youth. This is a non-profit
organization accepting donations to continue helping our community find
ways to make life better for children who need assistance.
